In 2016 Volker Fitzpatrick delivered the third and final phase of development at Bourne Business Park in Weybridge, Surrey that will create around 5800m2 of new state of the art office space.
The project achieved a BREEAM rating of Excellent and as part of the strategy targeted the Ma101 optional bonus LCA credits available. David Barnes at Volker Fitzpatrick is a trained eToolLCD user and successfully completed an eTool certified model to perform the LCA calculations and inform the design process.
The construction comprises of pile foundations and a reinforced concrete frame structure, rain screen cladding and glazing. Sustainability features include the use of recycled aggregate and blast furnace slag (GGBS) in the concrete mixes and a 200m2 solar PV array.

“We have been using etool for the Last year and have completed 3 certified assessments. As with any new software there is a learning curve involved but the training and level of support has been excellent and we can now complete an IMPACT assessment on our project within a couple of days(depending on complexity). This has enabled us to give our clients and design teams valuable information on the environmental impacts of design options as well as giving an additional 2% to the projects BREEAM assessment once the etool model is certified.”
